Manama: The Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) won the prestigious Insurance award - The Educational and Training Initiative of the Year 2021, as part of the 8th Middle East Insurance Review Award.

With more than 200 entries from the MENA region, the BIBF made it to the final selection and was awarded along with 15 other industry leaders in different categories.

The 8th Middle East Insurance Industry Awards (MIIA), organised by the Singapore-based Middle East Insurance Review, which is one of the leading publications in the Middle East for the insurance sector, and aims to recognise and salute excellence in the MENA insurance sector, and promote greater professionalism in the market.

The participants were nominated after a review conducted by elite representatives of the insurance sector and audited by EY.

On this occasion, the BIBF’s Director, Dr. Ahmed Al-Shaikh, stated, “We are extremely grateful and honoured to receive this prestigious award as it reflects the efforts made in providing training and development of outstanding quality to the insurance industry. The BIBF provides specialised training to qualify human capital in the insurance sector and provide them with the necessary skills since its establishment. The prevalence of qualifications offered by the BIBF is testament to the many achievements made over the past decades in this field.”

He added, "We always strive to raise the level of specialised training in the insurance sector to provide a positive impact on professionals in order to continue achieving the expected growth of this sector."

On her part, Head of the Insurance Studies Centre at the BIBF, Ms. Manal Mashkoor, added, "We are pleased to receive this internationally prestigious award for the fourth time since its launch in 2014, which indicates the importance of the quality of the distinguished training services that we provide at the local and regional levels, and for this we would like to thank We also thank our local and international partners for their continued confidence in the Institute, and we look forward to serving the insurance sector by providing distinguished training solutions to advance towards the sustainable growth of the local and regional insurance market.”

For her part, MEIR CEO Ms. Sheila Suppiah, said, “Innovation, digital transformation and customer-centric initiatives that came out of the pandemic were truly empowering, not to mention new products launched to serve clients. In addition, how companies used AI, robotics and technology raised the bar in this competition. It was truly amazing to see the enthusiasm from the industry despite the long drawn-out toll of the pandemic. We congratulate the BIBF and all the winners of these distinguished initiatives”.
