With only a few days left for the Haj, the Dubai Customs has put in place special arrangements to receive pilgrims coming back from the Holy Lands (Makkah & Madinah) in Saudi Arabia.
Ibrahim Al Kamali, director of passenger operations department, said they have increased the number of customs officers at the airports to 444 officers to serve the pilgrims faster.
"Staff officers will be available round the clock to ensure easy and speedy traffic so that pilgrims have a happy experience."
The total number of customs officers at the passenger operations department is 718, he added.
"There are 77 bag inspection devices in place - 58 work on bigger luggage and 19 for hand baggage."
Dubai Customs has set up a work plan that will facilitate and simplify the customs routine without compromising the security, he pointed out.
"We have selected officers who will organise the work shifts and make sure everything is easy for the pilgrims."
There will be a dedicated path for pilgrims through which they can receive their luggage and stamp their passports fast, he said.
"Dubai Customs has participated in the airports meeting - which involved different entities and strategic partners - who met to determine and address various challenges for this season."
