Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani met South Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Joo Hyunghwan and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting they reviewed bilateral relations and explored aspects of cooperation especially in the fields of economy, trade and investment and ways to promote them .
The trade volume between Qatar and South Korea amounted to nearly QR35.1bn in 2016. South Korea is ranked as Qatar's second trade partner. The value of Qatari exports to South Korea in 2016 amounted to nearly QR32.6bn and the imports amounted at nearly QR2.46bn.
Qatar and South Korea have signed a number of economic and investment agreements such as the economy, trade and technical cooperation agreement signed in April 21, 1984 and the agreement on mutual protection and promotion of investments signed in April 16, 1999.
The bilateral trade relations between Qatar and South Korea, the Asian economic giant, is expected to deepen further.
