Mubasher: Qatar’s foreign reserves rose 12.5% year-on-year in June, according to the Qatar Central Bank's (QCB) data released on Wednesday.

Qatar’s overseas reserves grew to QAR 164.6 billion ($45.2 billion) last June, compared to QAR 146.3 billion ($40.2 billion) in the same month a year earlier, the QCB’s monthly monetary bulletin revealed.

On monthly basis, international reserves levelled up 0.91% to QAR 163.12 billion ($44.8 billion) during June, from QAR 146.3 billion ($40.2 billion) in May.

The central bank attributed the rise in international reserves to the increase in bond and treasury bills to QAR 33.3 billion in June, versus QAR 23.15 billion for the same period of the previous year.

Moreover, the gas-rich country’s international reserves included foreign-currency liquid assets of QAR 72.7 billion, in addition to Qatar’s special drawing rights (SDRs) held with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which amounted to QAR 1.4 billion.
