Fifty-two Bahrain Airport Services (BAS) staff members have been offered new contracts at the new BAS Development Company (BDC).

It follows negotiations between Parliament first vice-chairman Abdulnabi Salman and Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel Humaidan and BAS over the past few days.

This comes after the 52 submitted a plea to Parliament demanding intervention after being informed that their services were no longer required.

"The new contracts have proper terms that guarantee the rights of the 52 after fears of them being let go,” said Mr Salman.“

They are mostly similar to their original employment contracts with the mother company, which we believe is fair.”

Ministry assistant under-secretary for labour Ahmed Al Hayki was also involved in the negotiations.
