ArabFinance: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly appointed Amr Mahfouz as the new CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), upon an issued decree, according to an emailed press release.

Mahfouz will assume this position for one year until October 2021, ITIDA elaborated.

Last July, the communications minister Amr Talaat appointed Mahfouz as ITIDA Acting CEO as well as the assistant ICT minister for growth and development, according to the statement.

Prior to joining ITIDA, Mahfouz had worked for IBM for more than 33 years, ITIDA added.

Mahfouz said last month that Egypt “invested heavily” in developing its information and communications technology infrastructure as well as digital capabilities.
