Mazoon Electricity Company, the leading electricity provider in Oman, has signed an agreement with Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (Be’ah) for safe collection and disposal of lead acid batteries (LAB) in line with its environmental sustainability practices.
 
The agreement will help Mazoon Electricity to safely dispose of chemicals used in the battery units in the main electrical stations, said a statement from Mazoon.
 
As per the deal, Be’ah will be responsible for collecting and transporting LAB from Mazoon Electricity plant to certified processing and recycling facility.
 
Be’ah’s action will help Mazoon Electricity ensure that its work processes are in accordance with the stipulated environmental laws of the sultanate, it stated.
 
The Oman environmental services company will also provide Mazoon Electricity with approved LAB waste collection pallets that help hinder acids from leaking.
While contributing to Mazoon Electricity’s vision of conserving the environment, the agreement is also in line with its core values and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) commitments.
 
The company is devoted to work processes and products, which has enabled it to help protect and reduce environmental impact and secure the wellness, health and operational safety of its employees and community, said the statement.
 
Mazoon Electricity pursues business activities that promote environmental protection and conservation.
