Giving the details of the new substations, the company said, ‘Those are in locations such as Al Kasfa in the wilayat of Rustaq, Izki in the Governorate of Dakhliyah, Al Magsher in the Governorate of South Batinah, Jalaan Bani Bu Hassan in the Governorate of South Sharqiyah.’
In addition, a number of substations were upgraded including Al Bedaya in the wilayat Suwaiq, Qalat al Awamer in the Governorate of Dakhliyah, Wadi Bani Ghafir in the Governorate of South Batinah and Timsa in Nizwa.’

The new substations project comes as part of the continuous development and enhancement of the distribution network in these areas which will help in sharing the load between the existing and the new substations. ‘The upgradation of existing substations will help in responding to the increasing demand for energy in these areas.’

According to the company, the need for new substations and upgradation of existing ones arose due to steep rise in electricity demand. ‘More than 20,000 new electricity connections have been provided to consumers in the sultanate from April to June 2019. The new stations play a significant role in enhancing the efficiency of the electricity network and reducing interruptions in service,’ the statement said.
