RIYADH — The volume of complaints lodged with the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) against telecommunications service providers dropped by around eight percent during the first quarter of 2019 compared to the same period last year.

According to the rating index announced by the telecom regulatory authority on Monday, the Saudi Telecom Co. comes first among those against whom the highest number of complaints were lodged in the category of mobile phone services for every 100,000 subscribers, while Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) was at the top in terms of the number of complaints in the fixed telecom service category, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The authority indicated that the index of complaints aims to disseminate the data transparently and clearly, which enhances competition among the companies providing telecommunications services, and push them to develop and improve their services in line with the expectations of the users.

The CITC receives complaints through an integrated system to deal with complaints, and periodically issues classification indicators in order to ensure that the most accurate data is provided to users on the performance of telecommunication service providers in resolving their customer complaints so as to enable the users to choose appropriate service provider.
