Kuwait has announced plans to launch six new projects with a focus on developing ‘bachelor’ cities (mainly for company labourers) in co-ordination with the Partnership Projects Authority in the capital city, reported Arab Times, citing a senior official.

These cities for labourers is being built with the financial backing from the private sector, noted Ahmad Al Manfouhi, the director-general of Kuwait Municipality.

"These labourer cities will aim to provide all health, security, recreational and commercial services to low-income residents residing in Kuwait without their families," stated Al Manfouhi.

Kuwait Municipality has already started allocating sites for the establishment of labour housing projects and 'bachelor cities' in various governorates of the country, he added.
