Mubasher: Assets owned by banks operating in Qatar increased 4.9% year-on-year in August, according to the Qatar Central Bank's (QCB) recent data on Monday.

Total assets amounted to QAR 1.389 trillion ($380 billion) in August, up from QAR 1.31 trillion ($361.9 billion) in the same month a year earlier.

Qatari lenders’ total assets decreased by 0.3% last month, compared to QAR 1.387 in July.

By the end of August, banks’ reserves rose 1.9% to QAR 36.86 billion, from QAR 36.14 billion in the previous month.

Cash and precious metals levelled up 15.4% month-on-month to QAR 11.17 billion in August from QAR 9.68 billion.

While Qatar bank lending grew 0.4% to QAR 925.8 billion in the prior month, from QAR 922 billion in the month before.
