The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) is partnering with the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi and other entities to strengthen Abu Dhabi's position in the field of medical tourism, as the emirate continues to attract visitors from all around the world, said Dr Anwar Sallam, group chief medical officer at SEHA.

Dr Sallam, speaking in the 12th World Medical Tourism Congress (WMTC) recently hosted in Abu Dhabi, said SEHA is committed to provide the highest quality care to patients, in line with the globally recognised benchmarks.

Aligned to the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, SEHA will enhance its health services delivery through innovation and specialist expertise, centered on the launch of Sheikh Shakbout Medical City, with the aim of elevating Abu Dhabi’s position as a preferred medical tourism destination, he said.
Dr Sallam pointed out that Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, which will open phase one in November 2019, will be equipped with the latest medical technology providing best-in-class health care to patients.

He said SEHA recognised the role of the government in supporting medical tourism and the world-class airlines in the UAE that bring patients to Abu Dhabi. He added that patients from all over the world receiving treatment at SEHA facilities will also benefit from an advanced digital information network, which will enable them to receive valuable information and medical reports, across geographies at a click of a button.

Medical tourism in the UAE increased 5.5% per year to reach Dh12.1 billion in sales in 2018. Initiatives such as the Abu Dhabi Medical Tourism E-portal launched by the Abu Dhabi Department of Health and Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT), have helped spearhead growth of medical tourism, with SEHA facilities playing a crucial role to ensure the delivery of world-class healthcare. - TradeArabia News Service
