Push to boost Bahrain investments in Bosnia

MANAMA: Bahraini investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina are estimated at more than $200 million, which are expected to rise and diversify, Bahrain-Bosnia and Herzegovina Friendship and Business Society (BBHS) chairman Jawad Al Hawaj has said.

Confirming that the next stage is ripe for opening new horizons in terms of work, co-operation and common interests in trade, tourism, real estate, industry, finance, banking and entrepreneurship sectors, Mr Al Hawaj has invited society members, business owners and investors for a dinner gathering today at the Al Hawaj Gardens.

The meeting would help in developing communication and relations between Bahrain and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which can be a gateway for local investors to the Balkan countries and some European countries which reflect the stability of Bahrain’s investment environment.

He mentioned also that there are broad prospects in many sectors, whereas Bahrain is prepared to be a gateway for business owners and Bosnians to the Arabian Gulf countries and the Arab region, and at the same time Bahraini investors can take advantage of Bosnia’s position as a gateway to the Balkans and other countries.

Mr Al Hawaj also noted that the association had a prominent role in contributing to the opening of a direct air route for Gulf Air between Bahrain and Bosnia with the expansion of direct flights between the two countries very soon.

He added, “We are working on overcoming the stalemate imposed by the pandemic. During the Bahraini week in Bosnia there are many opportunities for co-operation and partnerships between Bahraini business owners and their counterparts in the friendly country, which is planned to host a week in return for Bosnia in Bahrain, and this means opening more spaces for communication and joint co-operation in the coming period.”

Mr Al Hawaj added that the society’s agenda also includes holding joint meetings between entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium-sized enterprises in Bahrain and Bosnia, based on the availability of broad joint opportunities in many fields, as well as projects for cultural and artistic activities, stressing that the Bahrain-Bosnia and Herzegovina Friendship and Business Society has a role for playing the reality of mutual benefits between the two countries in various fields.
