The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) took centre stage at this year’s Gitex with 17 breakthrough projects and initiatives that drew large visitor footfall over the weeklong technology event. These eye-catching, mind-blowing innovations adopt the latest in high technologies including artificial intelligence and virtual reality to enable smarter trade and make business more efficient.

The Gitex Technology Week 2019 saw the Department of Planning and Development – Trakhees, an entity of PCFC, showcasing two smart initiatives: Trakhees Smart Inspection – Phase 2 which is an effective way to do inspection operations using smart tablets. This helps reduce paperwork and automate the process, reduce chances of human errors, assist with better decision making on the spot, speed up inspection process and increase the number of inspected facilities. The second initiative is Trakhees LMS, an e-learning system which will be used to provide online training courses for Trakhees staff internally.

The PCFC’s Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) had three smart initiatives to show, including Sea Dubai which will integrate all relevant activities to ensure unique experience in Dubai and promote the local marine and leisure industry with an aim  to make Dubai one of the leading global maritime leisure destinations.

DMCA also presented DMVC Platform which is an enhanced informative, interactive and unifying portal with new Native Mobile Application for the maritime sector in Dubai through the concept of Maritime Virtual Cluster. The enhanced platform provides interactive map, information, services, components and potentials of the maritime sector in Dubai, and enables effective communication between the components of the maritime cluster away from the barriers of time and place. The third initiative is Smart Maritime Authority app which is a new revamped smart and unified smart native mobile application that provides customers with a m-enabled smart channel to access and apply for DMCA  services.
