Dubai: As part of the 2019 UAE Innovation Month, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) is organising further events to push forward the UAE's strategy of building an innovative society. MoF organised a ‘Park Innovation Experience’ at Zabeel Park, which focuses on interacting with all strata of society.

The event allowed children to participate in innovative tech-oriented activities and games such as artificial intelligence, electric circuit and solar energy. Attendees were also able to explore the centre of experiences where they could discover the latest innovations in products and services. University students also had the opportunity to present their FinTech ideas in a Pecha Kucha format. Pecha Kucha is an exciting two-hour event where teams of students, young creatives and finance enthusiasts share their FinTech ideas in a quick-fire presentation format. To compete for a prize, participants have to present their creative solutions in no more than six and a half minutes and using only 20 visual slides.

H.E. Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of MoF reiterated the ministry's keenness to foster a culture of innovation - one of the requisite building blocks in upgrading and enhancing the ministry’s services. MoF aims to achieve this by interacting with a cross-section of society, in order to achieve sustainable development and bolster innovation among the youth.

H.E. said: “The aim of the ‘Park Innovation Experience’ is to increase the participation of the youth in FinTech innovation by enabling university students to present their creative ideas for technology development. Furthermore, we hope to help them prepare for their careers, which in turn allows them to contribute towards advancing sustainable development in the UAE. This in turn, will elevate the country’s standing as a global center for knowledge and innovation.”

On Tuesday, February 26, 2019, MoF will organise the ‘World in the Future’ event in Dubai Mall to celebrate innovation and innovators. The ‘World in the Future’ and the ‘Park Innovation Experience’ events, along with its several other initiatives aimed at promoting creative thinking, are part of MoF’s participation in the UAE Innovation Month.
