CAIRO: Filmmakers from Hollywood have expressed their willingness to shoot films at tourist attractions in Egypt, a report by Al-Masry El-Youm has said.

Egyptian Tourism Minister Rania Al-Mashat highlighted the importance of film production opportunities in Egypt as a means to promote tourism at a meeting with US filmmakers and representatives from the New York-based History Channel.

Mashat noted how cinema plays an integral role in providing a platform for people around the world and discussed ways of how this can contribute to encouraging Egypt’s ailing tourism sector.

The minister also pointed that Egypt is rich with places that can provide multiple settings for filming, given that the country is home to significant archaeological sites as well as beautiful beaches.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the opening of the King Tut exhibition in Los Angeles.
