Kuwait's Ministry of Education sets July 1 deadline to terminate expats' contracts

KUWAIT CITY - Civil Service Commission (CSC) has set July 1, 2018 as deadline for the Ministry of Education to terminate the contracts of expatriate employees affected by the replacement policy for fiscal year 2018/2019, reports Al-Qabas daily.

In a letter, CSC notified the ministry that financial arrangements for the employees in question will be struck off next year’s budget.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Teachers Society (KTS) lamented the unjustified reaction and offensive remarks against teachers and the schools’ administration due to the sudden death of student Essa Al- Bloushi.

In a press statement, the society expressed deep regret for the sad incident and extended condolences to the parents and family of the departed student.

It went ahead and cautioned the public against making hasty accusations until the outcome of investigation is known, noting the teachers and administrative employees of the schools treat students as their own children amid huge responsibilities they shoulder in educating them.

It stressed that all teachers should not be blamed for the misdeeds or misbehavior of few teachers. Statement noted the stipulation that female teachers only should be allowed to teach in the primary schools for boys is yielding many negative effects, especially as the decision was implemented without careful study.
