KUWAIT CITY: Minister of Finance Dr Nayef Al-Hajraf revealed that the Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) sustained limited losses due to suspension of the maintenance process on planes which are governed by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), reports Al-Qabas daily.

In response to a parliamentary question sent by MP Mohammad Al-Mutair, the minister explained that the national carrier, immediately after receiving EASA’s decision concerning the suspension, managed to undertake necessary measures to execute an alternative plan for protecting its interests. It maintained the signing plan with the contracting companies. There were no negative impacts on the purchase of spare parts from other companies when required.

Regarding the need to hold those behind this error accountable, Dr Al-Hajraf affirmed that KAC probed those responsible for suspending the maintenance services provisioned to KAC, and took necessary measures based on the outcome of the probe.
