AMMAN The Water Authority on Wednesday launched the Tal Mantah purification station that uses solar power for wastewater treatment, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation said on Wednesday.

The ministry, in a statement, said that the JD300,000 project was funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Wilo Foundation, and the Karger company, in partnership with EcoPeace Middle East and World Wide Fund for Nature Germany (WWF Germany), according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The ministry said that the operation of the new solar station with a capacity of 128 kilowatts, for three years, would allow the generation of 214 megawatt per hour, which will cut annual operational costs. The project also includes training courses for local residents in the Sheikh Hussein region and the Jordan Valley, the ministry added.
