LONDON- Damage from a fire on Tuesday night at Saras's barrels per day oil refinery in Sarroch on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia is being evaluated but appears limited, the Italian refinery company said on its website on Wednesday.

"During the night the violent storm that hit the Cagliari area caused flooding in some of the tanks of the Sarlux (Saras subsidiary) plant, with residual hydrocarbons on the surface that, hit (by) lightning, caught fire," the Italian company said.

"The fire was contained and stopped within a few hours."
