ABU DHABI - A group of Emirati doctors and final year medical students are to travel to the United States to join top American hospitals to receive training in a number of medical specialties, including internal medicine, oncology, and microbiology.
Funded by the Scholarship Office at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, and in cooperation with the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the doctors will join various fellowship, training or residency programmes in American hospitals including the MD Anderson Cancer Centre and the Mayo Clinic.
The move follows the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the follow-up of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
A spokesman from the Khalifa Foundation said,"This initiative will help produce highly qualified Emirati medical personnel that will help meet the needs of the fast-growing health sector in the country."
