Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group and Honorary Patron of Dubai Quality Group, Dubai Quality Group (DQG) is pleased to announce the 1st cycle of UAE Innovation Award which will be held during the Innovation Month in February 2018, announcing and honoring the winners in the presence of VIPs in UAE and media representatives local and international.
Marking the Innovation month in 2018, the 1st cycle of UAE Innovation Award will be held targeting the non-Government organizations covering a wide range of industries and sectors such as Health & Wellbeing, Education & Learning, Energy & Utility, Technology & Communication, Transport, Social & Community Development, Retail & Consumer Goods, Financial Services, Heritage, Art & Culture, Sports & Recreation, Real Estate & Construction, Manufacturing, Tourism & Hospitality, and Professional Services, Marketing & Media, NGO & Non-Profit etc..
In support of UAE Innovation Award and DQG efforts, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group and Honorary Patron of Dubai Quality Group, highlighted that “ We live in a very dynamic world where things are changing every minute. Global competition, rising customers’ expectations, accelerated complexity and advancement in technology now make innovation a business imperative. Innovation is the new competitive advantage for business leaders, SMEs and new startups alike.”
His Highness added “The award will promote a culture of innovation throughout the private sector companies to raise their level of innovative practices based on integrated innovation framework and standards. It will also support companies to strengthen their innovative capabilities and create sustainable value to their customers and the society at large.
Fatma Buti Al Mheiri, Chairman of Dubai Quality Group, stated: “UAE Innovation Award is one of the new strategic initiatives adopted by DQG board and it will play a major role in enhancing DQG services to its members and the business community at large. With the wise guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice- President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, DQG worked relentlessly, since its inception in 1994, to develop and promote quality and business excellence practices in the private and government sectors throughout the UAE and the region.
Fatma Buti Al Mheiri added: “We are proud to launch this Innovation Award, in addition to the other DQG programs such as UAE Ideas, Ideas Arabia and Emirates Women Award. This award is in harmony with other national initiatives within the framework of UAE Vision 2021 and national innovation strategy, aiming at promoting innovation and driving sustainable development in UAE, along with improving the competitiveness of the private sector organizations. Innovation is a viable investment to make UAE a global innovation hub, bringing great benefits to our future generation, and improving the country’s competitive position in the global innovation index”.
The Innovation Award technical advisor Dr. Kasim Kanakri, CEO, Team Power International stated: “That the Innovation award framework and criteria are designed based on world-class Innovation concepts and best practices; it will bring great benefits to participating companies, their customers, staff and UAE community”.
The UAE Innovation Award objectives are:
- Support UAE National Innovation Strategy
- Promote innovation culture throughout UAE private sector organizations
- Demonstrate top management commitment to Innovation
- Raise the level of innovation practices based on the award framework and standards
- Strengthen organizations’ innovation capabilities to create sustainable value for their customers
- Recognize and reward the leading innovative companies in UAE
- Build and maintain a strong network of Innovation professionals and qualified assessors
Dubai Quality Group in collaboration with Team Power International will be conducting extensive training and awareness programs for both the Innovation Award Assessors and participating companies, during November 2017.
Companies applying for the award will submit a comprehensive application in December 2017, which will be evaluated by award independent assessors against three main sets of criteria – Innovation Infrastructure; Innovation Enablers; and Innovation Results, followed by site visits. Winners will be announced and honored at the 1st cycle award ceremony in February 2018.
The award participating companies will be classified into five levels (one star to five-star), based on the level of their innovation maturity and the scores achieved.
Dubai Quality Group will always be committed to ensure the transparency and impartiality of the assessment process and results. This will be achieved through a careful selection of qualified independent assessors and jury members.
