Abu Dhabi launches parking permits for villa visitors

The Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi announced a new service that allows visitors of registered villas to obtain a parking permit by sending an SMS.

These villa owners can now request for visitor’s parking permit in two cases:

*Permits on occasions: The owner of the villa should call the Contact Center 80088888 from the registered phone number in the system. DoT will specify the duration of the permit.

*Visitors’ permits: The owner of the villa should send a text message from the number registered phone number on the system. The permit will be valid for 8 hours once the request is submitted between 12am to 8am.

The text message should mention (1) city code and plate code, (2) plate number, (3) sector number and (4) number of hours, said the statement from DoT.

For example: Each SMS is be charged according to the tariff of the service providers. Visitors permits is free of charge for nationals, while Dh2 will be charged for non-locals per hour.

Customers can also specify the number of hours in the text message, said the statement.

According to DoT, the villa visitors’ permits is subject to Mawaqif Rules and Regulations including Ramadan and official vacations.

The transport department has also urged the public to avoid parking their vehicles in prohibited areas and not to obstruct traffic flow.-TrdeArabia News Service
