Dubai, UAE: ACE Hardware, the world’s largest hardware retail cooperative, is to open at First Avenue in Dubai’s Motor City, bolstering the shopping mall’s retail partnerships ahead of the planned opening early next year.
ACE will be First Avenue’s main anchor retail tenant, operating on the ground floor across an area of almost 6,500sq/ft. It will serve a catchment area of more than 30,000 residents, with clusters like the Green Community and Uptown drawing young professionals and families.
ACE stores sell a wide variety of hardware products to maintain and fix homes and businesses.
“The pace of demographic growth in Motor City is rapid and First Avenue will help serve strong demand for a unique retail and hospitality experience,” said Dr Ramy Moussly, General Manager of Al Tawfeeq for Development and Investment, the Saudi Arabian owner and operator of First Avenue. “We are delighted to have ACE as our main anchor retail tenant. The store joins other well-known brands like Carrefour in offering shoppers a holistic retail experience. By the time we open early next year, First Avenue will have 70 high-street retailers and 15 casual dining restaurants. As well as that, a four-star 150-room hotel, operated by Park Inn by Radisson, will adjoin the mall, overlooking the race track in Dubai Autodrome,” he said.
The backers of the AED500 million First Avenue project are positioning it as an all-week-round destination for residents, tourists, families and the business community. As well as shops and restaurants, it will have healthcare services, a children’s entertainment area, and a 400-space underground car park.
First Avenue will be a social and retail hub for the Union Properties-developed Motor City, with a distinct automotive and lifestyle theme. The two-storey development stretches across 500,000sq/ft, with a one-kilometre roadway linking each end. It is located close to Sports City, Arabian Ranches, Al Barari, Silicon Oasis, Nshama, Mudon, Studio City and Dubai Production City. First Avenue will be a short drive from Maktoum International Airport and the Expo 2020 site. The area has parks, schools and swimming pools.
