Riyadh — Some 800 Saudi young men and women will be trained in cyber security in the first year of a training initiative launched by the National Cybersecurity Authority.

The initiative aims to raise the efficiency of government employees working in cyber security and to prepare new university graduates in related specializations for jobs in the cyber security field.

Trainees will be selected in coordination with government authorities and universities.

Training courses will be conducted in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.

Training courses will comprise theoretical and practical content to be provided by international companies specializing in this field under the supervision of the National Cybersecurity Authority.

The training will have three stages: the foundation stage, intermediate stage, and advanced stage.

In the foundation stage trainees will undergo intensive training for four weeks. The subjects will include operation systems, computer networks, and the basics of cyber security.

In the intermediate stage, a four-week training program will focus on subjects concerning unethical hacking and protection of networks and systems.

The third and final stage will focus on specific areas including test hacking, responding to cyber incidents, electronic security and cyber security operations.
