Oman's Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources said steady progress was being made on the second fishermen's village, being built on a 4,537-sq-m area in the Masirah region of the sultanate.

The ministry had allocated lands close to the coast for the establishment of integrated villages, facilities for fishermen, which achieve an appropriate and safe environment for the stability and to serve fishermen from the various governorates of the sultanate, reported Times of Oman.

The first such village was set up in Al Wusta Governorate accommodating 500 fishermen, stated the report.

The ministry is carrying out advisory studies for the establishment of another village in the Wilayat of Mahout, it added.
