Saudi Aramco has invited contractors to bid for a 100,000 cubic metres per day capacity water desalination plant for the Jafurah gas field.

“The tender for the main contract was re-issued on 17 October 2021 with bid submissions scheduled for end of January 2022,” a source aware of the project details told Zawya Projects.

In December 2020, industry news portal Energy & Utilities reported that Aramco had cancelled the desalination plant tender after cancelling the tender for the planned Jafurah cogeneration independent steam and power plant (ISPP)

Last week, Zawya Projects reported that Aramco has invited proposals for Jafurah cogeneration plant.

The source said the contract award is expected by March 2022, and the project is expected to be commissioned by the fourth quarter of 2024.

Fichtner Consulting Engineers has been mandated as Front-End-Engineering-Design (FEED) consultant for the project.
