Kuwait intends to issue five bids for the construction of a seafront and Corniche in its Northern Jahra Governorate, a Kuwaiti official has said.

The project, which has been approved by the cabinet, costs around 380 million Kuwaiti dinars ($1.25 billion) and will be offered to the private sector as investment, Kuwait Municipality Director General Ahmed Al-Manfouhi said.

Manfouhi, speaking at a partnership seminar in Kuwait City on Tuesday, said the Municipality has decided to split the contract into five projects to give a chance to more companies which are interested in investing in infrastructure in the country.

“We have decided to offer the project to the private sector on an investment basis to save funds...the project will be split into contracts which will be offered to bidders separately,” Manfouhi said, according to the Arabic language daily Al-Anba.

He did not provide project details but officials said in 2020 it comprises a seafront, a long seaside Corniche, parks, services buildings and restaurants.
