The Knowledge Hub Universities, a flagship project of Egypt's El Sewedy Education, has signed an agreement with the local subsidiary of UAE-based Emaar Properties to open its second university in the country, the company CEO said.

Ihab Salama told Zawya Projects that El Sewedy Education has signed a memorandum of understanding with Emaar Misr for setting up the university within the developer's project in Sheikh Zayed Extension.

He said: "The university would be located on 50 acres within Emaar Misr's 500-acre residential development in Sheikh Zayed. Construction work will start by the first quarter of 2021."

Earlier this week, El Sewedy Education in partnership with the UK's Coventry University opened the second phase of its first Knowledge Hub University, located in the New Administrative Capital.

"Investments for first and second phases stand at one billion Egyptian pounds ($63 million) out of seven billion pounds ($443 million) of investments planned for the Knowledge Hub Universities project over 10 years," Salama said.
