Dubai-based Union Coop, the largest consumer cooperative in the UAE, announced on Sunday the opening of its 21st branch in Al Barsha 3 built at a cost of 45 million UAE dirhams ($12 million).

The new branch, spread over an area of 50,000 sq. ft, was inaugurated by the Chairman of Union Coop Majid Hamad Rahma Al Shamsi with Khalid Humaid Bin Diban Al Falasi, CEO of Union Coop.

Al Shamsi said the opening of the latest branch was on schedule, which is a significant achievement considering the COVID-19 pandemic.

Union Coop CEO Al Falasi said the Coop will focus on expansion with modern designs to provide shoppers and consumers with a pleasant shopping experience.

Madiya Al Mari, Investment Division Director said the double-storey with basement project, with a built-up area of 35,356 sq ft, includes a hypermarket, and 120 parking spaces.

In December, Zawya Projects had reported Union Coop is aiming to double number of outlets to 34 in four years.
