Kuwait-based developer Mabanee Company in a joint venture with Sharjah Investment & Development Authority (Shurooq) is expected to complete the design work for its ‘The Avenues Sharjah’ mall in the Mughaider area in the second quarter of 2021, according to a source.

“The detailed design work is still progressing with completion expected by early June 2021," the second source said, adding that the time frame for construction tender is yet to be announced.

The project is slated for completion by the first quarter of 2024, a second source told Zawya Projects. He estimated the project cost at around $120 million.

The scope of work involves the construction of a 65,000 square metre retail and tourist hub comprising 71 leasing units for retail and food and beverage units, according to Shurooq’s website.

Dewan Architects + Engineers is the design and lead consultant for the project while Mabanee would be the developer and operator of the mall, the second source said.

Mabanee currently operates ‘The Avenues’ branded malls in Kuwait and Bahrain and is building ‘The Avenues-Riyadh’ in Saudi Arabia.
