UAE, Dubai: Italy is developing a strong and diversified technology sector, fostering start-ups and supporting young innovators who are developing highly-specialised solutions to address some of the major challenges in the world.  The UAE Ministry of Economy has recently signed an MoU with the Italian Government to engage in activities to promote start-up ecosystems in both countries through cross fertilisation and networking.  Off the back of this, 11 of Italy’s most exciting tech start-ups will be attending the 39th GITEX Technology Week in Dubai between 6 and 10 October, showcasing tech solutions that will help a range of sectors from teachers and parents in education, to VR production of videogames, to online shopping. The companies will receive support from the Italian Trade Agency as they look to attract investment to enter the Middle East market for the first time.

In addition, there will be a dedicated area in the Italian Trade Agency’s Pavilion for Apulia (a region in the south-east of Italy), which will be hosting nine start-ups from the area. The Apulia Regional Government actively supports inward investments, business innovation and research and has created a world class innovation eco-system. The nine businesses include Beach Scanner, BusForFun.com, Cinemagica, Eusoft, Evholo, ParkForFun.com, Predict, Marshmallow Games and Yakkyofy. The nine start-ups will be supported by Puglia Sviluppo S.p.a., the regional development agency.

Gianpaolo Bruno, Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE, Oman and Pakistan, said, “We have a thriving technology sector full of young, dynamic entrepreneurs with brilliant ideas to solve modern challenges. This is the Italian Trade Agency’s second time at GITEX and the biggest tech show in the Middle East, North Africa & South Asia offers networking opportunities that our young innovators would not normally have access to. There are a wealth of Emirati and regional entrepreneurs looking for new, exciting innovations and potential investors will get to meet the personalities behind the creations.” The 11 Italian start-ups at the Italian Trade Agency’s Pavilion (Stand A20, Zabeel Hall 4), during the five-day event will include:
