Abu Dhabi: HH Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed, Member of The Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and Chairman of The Abu Dhabi Executive Office, discussed today with H.E S. Iswaran, Singaporean minster for communication and information, how to develop strong bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence and digital economy.Sheikh Khalid expressed to the Singaporean minister that both sides look forward to enhancing the friendly 35-year relationship between Abu Dhabi and Singapore in all areas of shared interest.Khalid bin Mohamed emphasised that common ground between the UAE and Singapore has always been a driver to build friendly bilateral relations between the two countries in the past.Sheikh Khalid cited high human values, the trend towards development, and the far-sighted vision to look for a better future as common traits between the late founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and Lee Kuan Yu, founder of the Singaporean Republic. He reiterated that these traits helped to build and develop the two countries.
Khalid bin Mohamed also emphasised that both of the founding leaders, Sheikh Zayed and Lee Kuan, worked hard to drive progress in their countries and to create better living conditions, which is clearly evident today.
The two sides also looked at the importance of investing in government systems in order to cope with latest rapid digital developments, and their readiness to adopt the latest digital solutions to meet economic and social needs and enable sustainable growth.For his part, H.E. the Singaporean minister stressed the importance of investing in human capital and developing employees’ skills so they could cope with the requirements of the economies of the future.He also underlined their shared foundations for solid partnerships, particularly around the principles of open markets, commercial potentials and capacities, and multicultural communities in both countries.HE Iswaran expressed his admiration of the Year of Tolerance’s initiatives, which are a true reflection of the UAE’s keenness to enhance peaceful cohabitation, and to increase awareness at local, regional and international levels, citing the papal visit of Pope Francis to the UAE in February of this year as a true example for that.
