Dubai: The best thing at restaurants around the world isn’t just the food, it’s the captivating art on the walls. From the days of Picasso and Matisse, who bartered theircreations for food and hospitality, to the high-end fashion and athleisure brands of today incorporating art and design into their creation, art has always had a profound influence on the way one lives life. After all, it is the age of Instagram, and if food supplements the body, then art supplements the soul.

Step through the doors of Le Cirque Dubai at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre and you’ll be torn between enjoying the French-Italian flavours on the porcelain china plates or admiring the juxtaposition of vividly coloured art pieces against the pristine white wall.

Meticulously selected artwork from the Opera Gallery Dubai was selected to display amidst the classy and chic interior of the restaurant, adding to the prolific culture and heritage to an internationally renowned brand. The flagship Le Cirque in New York is known to be home to A-listers from old favourites like Jackie O and Robert De Niro to modern stars like Justin Bieber and Anne Hathaway.

The most notable pieces displayed at Le Cirque are by a famed Spanish artist, Lita Cabellut, whose contemporary, vibrant and diverse pieces of paper, photography, intricate instillations with flowers and realistic oil paintings that follow a central theme of ‘the human’ can be seen spread across the space.

Post-war Italian abstract artist, Umberto Mariani showcases his affinity to folds of textiles, exploring the illusions of light and shadow. Painter and sculptor, David Gerstein, adds a burst of bright colours in his post-pop art style. This is projected through bold hues and multi-layered metal work. From My Palette to Memento Mori, his creativity with cut out steel is proudly hoisted on the walls of Le Cirque. The mantels can be seen laden with Jeff Koon’s Balloon Dog, part of the American pop-culture artists ‘Celebration’ series which is reported to have set the record at the 2013 Christie’s auction as the most expensive work ever sold by a living artist in 2013.

At Le Cirque, creating a memorable and distinctive experience doesn’t end with the menu, the ambiance is set with carefully considered furnishings, décor and art collections that elevates eating out into a dining experience with cultural flare.
