• UAE companies hire ‘high-quality’ talent on the spot

Dubai, UAE : Hard work, determination and passion for your job, are key to a happy and successful career, Her Excellency Sarah Bint Yousif Al Amiri,‎ UAE Minister of State of Advanced Sciences, told jobseekers on the final day of Careers UAE 2019, the 19th edition of the leading recruitment and training exhibition for UAE nationals, at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

The three-day show, which concluded on Thursday 21 March, gave upwards of 18,000 Emirati jobseekers, from fresh graduates to professionals seeking a career change, a rare opportunity to gain crucial face time with HR leaders and hiring managers from more than 100 leading UAE companies in both the public and private sector.

With many securing on-the-spot employment and thousands registering for the next stage of recruitment, Minister Al Amiri used her keynote address to guide candidates on how to make the right career choices.

Minister Al Amiri told candidates that the first years of their careers would be the most important as they gain knowledge, experience and enhance their learning, adding that the initial years shape personalities and determine the path to achieving goals.

She advised that when faced with challenges in the workplace it is important to embrace them, tackle them with hard work and determination and learn lessons to grow.

Minister Al Amiri shared her success story, telling jobseekers how she has always believed in the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to “Always remain professional in everything you do and do so with the highest quality, effectiveness and efficiency”.

She concluded her address by instilling in young candidates that it is important to pursue a career or position in a field you love and the key to success is to always remain humble.

LEADING COMPANIES AND GOVERNMENT MINISTRIES HAIL THE SHOW A SUCCESS

With companies striving to attract the best talent in the UAE, hospitality heavyweight Jumeirah checked out of the show with some new recruits and even more potential for future hires.

“Jumeirah is a major player in the hospitality industry – and hospitality is a core value in locals. We are offering graduate programmess for university students, youth programmes for high school graduates, and some guest-facing roles in the front office and in F&B,” said Sina Hashemi Nasab, Assistant Emiratisation Manager at the Jumeirah Group.

“We’ve seen a number of high-quality candidates at Careers UAE and have interviewed the candidates we saw potential in, on the spot. These candidates have shown passion for the hospitality industry and a positive attitude; several of them have been shortlisted and are being considered for the next stage of interviews. It’s been good enough to fill up a number of vacancies we have. We’ve had a huge number of applicants this year so would definitely like to come back next year.”

The public sector was also a big winner at Careers UAE 2019, with government ministries engaging with talent that can help drive the country forward.

“We have identified really talented nationals at the show who are eager to learn and become part of a successful story of the Energy sector here in the UAE,” commented Afraa Al Marri, Director of HR at the Ministry of Energy.

“The Ministry of Energy strives to achieve the vision of the UAE leadership in investing in the national human resources and providing them with a sustainable career development and Careers UAE is an ideal platform to work in this direction. During the three-day show, we have received around 200 applications a major percentage of these will be contacted and approached.”

CAREERS UAE ONCE AGAIN DELIVERS

With high levels of interest from candidates and an abundance of on-the-spot hires for exhibitors, the 2019 edition of Careers UAE underline why the show continues to be a crucial contributor to the country’s dynamic workforce.

“Careers UAE has evidenced how young UAE nationals are hungry and passionate to pursue a career, whether in the public or private sector. Consequently, exhibitors have been pleasantly surprised by the levels of high-quality talent seeking employment within their organisation, said Asma Al Sharif, Show Director – Careers UAE 2019.
