Dana Gas, Middle East's first private natural gas company to participate at the 24th World Energy Congress

Held every three years, the World Energy Congress is the world's largest, longest-running and most influential energy gathering

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) - The UAE Organising Committee of the 24th World Energy Congress has announced the signing of an agreement with Dana Gas, the Middle East’s first and largest regional private sector natural gas company, which will become a Silver sponsor and exhibitor at the Congress.

Held every three years, the World Energy Congress is the world’s largest, longest-running and most influential energy gathering. Unique in its coverage of the entire energy spectrum from oil and gas to renewables and nuclear, as well as power, the Congress provides a forum for the industry’s largest and most diverse conversation.

Dana Gas aims to play an important role in the rapidly growing natural gas sector of the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region (MENASA) through the deployment of sizeable assets in Egypt, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and the UAE; with further plans to expand. The company supplies a critical energy source that caters to the region’s economic diversification strategies and contributes to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.

As a Silver sponsor and exhibitor at the Congress, Dana Gas will complement the theme of the Congress “Energy for Prosperity” by showcasing its sustainable growth and investment strategies in natural gas exploration and production in the Middle East and the wider region. It will also highlight the chief role the private sector plays in boosting investment in natural gas - as the region’s demand has more than doubled in the last decade alone.

Dr. Matar Al Neyadi, Undersecretary at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Industry and Chairman of the UAE Organising Committee for the 24th World Energy Congress, said “The Organising Committee is very glad to welcome Dana Gas as part of an exclusive number of leading energy companies sponsoring the 24th World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi. Dana Gas is an integral player in UAE’s economic diversification efforts and sheds light on the need for natural gas to act as a bridge towards energy transition; while positively contributing to a sustainable energy future for the region. We thank them for their support of our vision to bring the full range of energy leaders under one roof in Abu Dhabi to discuss how energy can continue to bring prosperity to the world and sustainably advance the energy ecosystem.”

Dr Patrick Allman-Ward, CEO, Dana Gas, said: “It is with great pleasure we are sponsoring the World Energy Congress. It is a unique occasion that gathers the most senior individuals and companies together to discuss the challenges within the energy space. This year’s theme is ‘energy for prosperity’, highlighting the need for sustainable growth across the industry. We have a significant amount of experience in executing such projects. The contributions we have made as part of our Kurdistan Gas Project are illustrative of this, we have positively impacted the region in three ways: economic, social and environmental. We aim to ensure that we contribute to local value creation and sustainable development objectives whilst also playing a constructive role in shaping the further economic development of the region and country as a whole. We look forward to bringing our expertise to the event and sharing our experience with other stakeholders.”

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the 24th World Energy Congress will take place from 9 to 12 September 2019 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). This will mark the first time the Congress has been hosted in a Middle Eastern city, and by an OPEC member country, in the event’s 94-year history.
