The second batch of Bahrainis stranded in Iran will return to Bahrain on a chartered flight today under the International Covid-19 Repatriation Programme, an official has revealed.

Health Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Waleed Al Manna added that the ministry is continuing its efforts to intensify all measures to contain and prevent the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19).

These measures include immediate laboratory tests for all evacuated citizens on arrival in Bahrain, under the supervision of a specialised medical team.

Based on the results of the tests, citizens will either be transferred to a precautionary quarantine centre or isolation and treatment centres, according to guidelines and standards approved by the World Health Organisation.

Dr Al Manna affirmed the ministry continued to co-ordinate with relevant entities to ensure all Bahraini citizens are evacuated from Iran and the best healthcare services will be provided upon their arrival.

The second group of evacuees was supposed to arrive in Bahrain on March 19 but the airline contracted for the purpose said it was unable to fulfil the agreement with the ministry.
