Customers need not to worry about skyrocketing prices this Ramadan, as the Union Coop has announced a massive 90 per cent discount on up to 25,000 VAT free food and non-food products in all branches nationwide.

The big sale comes under 10 big campaigns to be launched in 60 days, including the holy month of Ramadan, Khalid Humaid Al Falasi, CEO of Union Coop, said on Monday.

"Union Coop Ramadan plan includes 10 promotional campaigns, worth Dh110 million, that will see the price reduction on more than 25, 000 VAT free food and non-food products, by up to 90 per cent."

Expecting sales of Dh650 million this Ramadan, Al Falasi said they have included a wide variety of products to the mix, keeping in mind the diversity of population in our country.

"Despite a 7.5 per cent drop in the price of several products, Union Coop has secured net profits of Dh138.5 million in the first quarter of this year," he said. "These are 26.5 per cent higher than the profits scored over the same period last year."

Al Falasi said customers should not worry about supply of goods in Ramadan. "Union Coop has agreed with suppliers to deliver all products round the clock and for seven days a week."

Customers also need not to worry about timing as Union Coop branches in Al Wasl, Umm Suqeim and Al Tawar shall remain open round the clock in Ramadan, he announced.

"Other branches will be open from 6.30am to 2am next day to give shoppers more time to buy their items whenever they deem fit," he said, expecting up to 2.5 million consumers. "We are also expecting to sell 70 million products in the holy month."

Al Falasi said they are all set to open a new branch in the coming few days at Nad Al Shiba. "Up to 30,000 different products are to be up for grabs at this new branch at Nad Al Shiba and nearby areas."

Shopping online

Over 22,000 products are available online at Union Coop e-platform, he disclosed. "These are home delivered at customers' convenience as fast as possible."

Additional benefits and discounts are also available for customers using Union Coop smart app, he said. "Customers may also have a special staff to help them do their shopping as convenient as possible with no need to stand in queues."
