SHARJAH- The Health Promotion Department, HPD, at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs recently reported that some 5600 individuals from all age groups have participated in awareness-raising activities organised by the Department this month, which included 34 virtual lectures and workshops delivered by 12 doctors and health specialists from inside and outside the country, along with presentations by a number of health educators.

The programme saw a 93% customer satisfaction rate, thanks to the important topics covered by these events, such as physical and mental activity, as well as tips about the prevention of infectious disease."

Commenting on the programme, Iman Rashid Saif, HPD Director, said, "As being an integral part of the UAE’s health system, and as part of our national responsibility, we have been keen to launch programmes and initiatives supportive of the country’s efforts in enhancing the health awareness of community members about health challenges, and improving the public health levels to help build a healthy society and consolidate Sharjah’s reputation and status."

During July, the HPD published over 32 posts and videos, as well as four digital awareness brochures on its social media platforms, including tips and advice on how to follow a healthy and balanced diet, the importance of physical activity in promoting physical and mental health, methods to prevent obesity, high blood cholesterol, respiratory disease and breast cancer, as well as special posts, in conjunction with world health days.

Recently, the Department released an awareness-raising online series about nutrition essentials for mothers and children, and how to meticulously plan for daily meals and food portions at the various stages of life.
