The moon-sighting committee will convene on Friday morning to receive testimonies of the sighting of the new moon confirming the end of Ramadan and the start of the month of Shawal.

The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs said that anyone with information about the sighting of the moon should convey his testimony to the committee.

If there is a credible testimony accepted by the panel, Eid Al Fitr will be on Saturday.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa issued a circular saying the ministries and public institutions in Bahrain will remain closed on the first day of Eid Al Fitr and the next two days.

If any of the three Eid days coincides with an official holiday, an extra day will be given in lieu, the circular added.
