Lulu launches food festival in UAE

The three-week festival brings together foodies and shoppers in a gastronomic experience of global cuisines from more than 25 countries

UAE - Hypermarket chain, Lulu is organising its annual food festival 'World Food' across its stores in the UAE from October 21 to November 10, 2020.

A celebration of flavours and culture, the three-week festival brings together foodies and shoppers in a gastronomic experience of global cuisines from more than 25 countries, the UAE’s very first virtual cooking competition 'Master Home Chef: the search for the home culinary star' and massive in-store product offers.

The food festival was inaugurated by Indian celebrity Nyla Usha, in the presence of James Varghese, Director – Dubai & Northern Emirates of LuLu Group, Thamban K.P., Regional Director – Dubai Region of LuLu Group, and other LuLu officials at LuLu Hypermarket Al Barsha, Dubai.

The World Food 2020 highlights many themes, such as follows:

“We have been organising our food festival for more than 15 years now, but this is our biggest celebration yet. Despite the current pandemic limitations for hosting physical events, we have received extensive support from different embassies, trade promotion councils, various community organisations, hotel and tourism sector, celebrity chefs, and social media influencers. Our aim is to showcase the wide range of global flavours that we offer, which truly makes us where the world comes to shop”, Ashraf Ali M.A., Executive Director of LuLu Group, said.

Apart from the food-themed festivals, LuLu introduces Master Home Chef and Little Home Chef virtual cooking competitions, which will gather aspiring chefs and food enthusiasts of every age to showcase their knack for food plating and recipe video editing. For each category, first prize is Dh3,000, second prize is Dh2,000, and third prize is Dh1,000.
