UAE - Several museums in the UAE will waive entry fees this Saturday, May 18, to celebrate International Museum Day. Some museums have also announced extended opening hours to mark the event.
According to the Dubai Media Office, museums across the emirate will be free on Saturday. The Louvre Abu Dhabi, on the other hand, has announced that it will remain open until 1am on the same day.
Part of Sharjah Museums Authority, the museum showcases over 5,000 collections representing different eras from across the Islamic world.
Manal Ataya, Director-General of SMA, explained that the holy month of Ramadan is more than fasting and performing good deeds, as it also provides the opportunity to interact with other members of the society, especially those hailing from different cultures and religious beliefs.
"The Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilisation allows visitors to learn more about Islam and the values of tolerance it instills in its followers," she added.
