The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Sunday announced 781 new cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, as well as 561 recoveries.

As many as 35,000 new Covid-19 tests have also been carried out, the ministry said.

One new death from Covid-19 was also reported.

The ministry wished a speedy recovery to all patients, calling on the public to cooperate with health authorities and comply with all precautionary measures, particularly social distancing, to ensure their safety and protection.

The UAE government, on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr, reminded residents to act responsibly and limit their festive celebrations indoors. Mosques will continue to remain closed and Eid group prayers will not be performed. As a precautionary measure against the spread of Covid-19, residents have been advised to go digital this year and use electronic means to celebrate the holiday instead. The country's leaders have reassured residents that with technology, the love and communication will continue despite social distancing.  Residents are urged to prioritise safety - both their own as well as that of the public - during their celebrations in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, Covid-19 testing centres run by the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) across the UAE will be temporarily closed only for the festival day of Eid Al Fitr on Sunday. Seha clarified that a number of screening centres will be reopened on the second and third days of Eid. More screening centres will be operational from Wednesday. From next week, nine new testing centres will be opened, bringing the total number of facilities to 24.

On Saturday, Seha said they have received more than 60,000 calls via the Estijaba hotline in March and April, with inquiries, comments and appointment or screening requests related to Covid-19.
