Retail chain Lulu on Sunday announced a revision of its store timings, adhering to the schedule of the UAE sanitisation programme being rolled out across the country as a preventive measure to protect the residents from the Covid-19 coronavirus.

"In view of the UAE Sterilisation Programme, Lulu stores across UAE have revised its operating hours from 8am to 7pm from today. Please plan your shopping accordingly and avoid last-moment rush so as to maintain Social Distancing procedures," the company said in a statement.

The nationwide sterilisation drive was on Saturday extended until April 5.

The sterilisation will be carried out daily from 8pm until 6am the following morning, the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the Ministry of Interior said, and restrictions in the movement of traffic will continue.

The ministry once again stressed that all retail food outlets such as cooperative societies, supermarkets, grocery stores and pharmacies will remain open 24/7.
