MANAMA: The Health Ministry last night announced an extension of the date to receive the second dose of Sputnik V vaccine.

The ministry attributed it to rescheduling of production and supply operations by the manufacturer.

“Extension of dates for the second dose will not affect the effectiveness of the vaccination,” the ministry said in a statement.

“Increasing the gap between two doses may boost the effectiveness of the vaccination in some cases.

“All those who registered for Sputnik will have their dates for vaccination rescheduled through the BeAware application, depending on the arrival of new vaccine stocks in the kingdom,” the ministry added.
