Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has issued Ministerial Decision No. 30/2021 on considering two standard specifications related to paints and varnishes as binding Omani standard specifications.

His Excellency Qais bin Mohammad al-Yusef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, issued Ministerial Decree No. 30/2021 considering two standard specifications related to paints and varnishes as binding Omani standard specifications.

Article 1 states: The following two standards are considered binding Omani standards:

1- (OS 197/2021) Standard Specification for Paints and Varnishes - Emulsion paints for internal and external surfaces.

2- (OS 240/2021) the standard specification for paints and varnishes - glossy and semi-gloss alkyd paints for interior and exterior works.

Article 2 stipulates an administrative fine not exceeding OMR 1,000 to be imposed on anyone who violates the provisions of this decision, and the fine shall be doubled in the event of repeated violation.

Article 3: Ministerial Resolution No. 89/90 is repealed and all that contradicts this decision or contravenes its provisions.

Article 4: This decision shall be published in the official gazette and enforced after 90 days from the date of its publication.
