As many as 8,423 bottles of hand sanitisers found below prescribed standards were seized by the Ras Al Khaimah Municipality.

The sanitisers were confiscated during intensive inspection raids against 100 outlets as part of the civic body's ongoing efforts to ensure public health and curb any manipulation in products, while checking the spread of Covid-19.

"The seized sanitisers did not meet the set standards," sources said.

The bottles were unregistered and mostly contained a lower percentage of alcohol than is prescribed, they pointed out.
Some of these bottles showed inaccurate information.

"The outlets were found to be misleading the customers by selling them manipulated products with incorrect ingredients," sources averred.

The civic body will step up its inspection campaigns against all outlets and institutions across the emirate in the coming days.

Stiff penalties, including hefty fines and even closure, shall be enforced against violators, sources warned.
