RIYADH — Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi issued a decision to regulate the Saudization of companies and establishments in the communications and information technology (CIT) sector.

Under the new regulation, seven major activities in this sector will come under the Nitaqat Saudization program. These include operation and maintenance of information technology, operation and maintenance of communications, infrastructure for information technology, infrastructure for communications, IT solutions, telecom solutions, and mail activities.

The new regulation, which will come into force effective from March 14 (Shaban 1), is being implemented as part of the existing cooperation between the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Human Resource Development Fund, Human Rights Watch, and the Council of Saudi Chambers, represented by the National Committee for Communications and Information and Technology.
