UAE - The Department of Economic Development – Ajman (DED-Ajman) announced that it is holding a joint awareness campaign with the Federal Tax Authority concerning the issuance of tax invoices starting next week. The campaign aims to reach out to major markets and commercial establishments in the Emirate of Ajman as well as in the areas of Masfout and Manama in line with its strategy to collaborate with various government entities in the implementation of programs that would bring benefit to the UAE economy and at the same time protect the rights of the consumers.

The Department held a meeting last week with the Federal Tax Authority in the presence of several officials, where they agreed to set up a campaign which include field visits to various outlets and shopping centers in the emirate and inform as many business establishments in different regions of the emirate regarding issuance of tax invoice.

Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Nuaimi, Director of Control and Consumer Protection Department, DED – Ajman, said: “We are pleased to organize this awareness campaign in cooperation with the Federal Tax Authority which is themed ‘Your Tax Bill, Your Right and Your Guarantee’. The campaign targets licensed economic establishments in the emirate as well as consumers alike to protect rights of all parties and ensure compliance with economic laws in the country. Establishments should be aware of the standards for issuing the tax invoice and avoid any practices that negatively affect the consumer.”

The Federal Tax Authority has set many criteria that should be included in the tax invoice, the most important of which is that the price mentioned in the invoice should also declare the value of the tax, noting that it should clearly identify it as ‘tax invoice’ within the bill, as well as the tax registration number of the establishment on each invoice issued.
