Bahrain -  The revamp of Duraz port is more than 95 per cent complete, it has emerged.

The BD184,000 project, which took around seven months, was carried out by the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry.

According to the ministry’s agriculture and marine resources Under-Secretary Dr Nabeel Abul Fateh, the project is 98pc done with finishing touches being applied.

During a field visit Dr Abul Fateh highlighted that the remaining work included completing the necessary electrical connections.

“The port development project includes constructing a building to include Coastguard and administrative offices,” he said.

“It also includes a fish market with 12 stalls, security offices and development work.”

He also stressed that developing ports and jetties was at the forefront of the ministry’s plans.
